Digging Deep, Rising High: Kerembla’s Story

When Kerembla, a drilling company based in the Hunter Valley, approached us, they weren’t just looking for a video—they were looking for a way to redefine how people saw them. Their work was precise, essential, and deeply tied to the land, but the industry often operated out of sight and out of mind. They wanted something real—something that captured their identity, their expertise, and their values. That’s where we came in.

The Challenge: Telling a Story That Matters

Rebranding is more than a new logo or a sleek website. It’s about shifting perception and owning your narrative. For Kerembla, that meant showing the world that they weren’t just another drilling company—they were humble leaders in precision, reliability, and environmental care.

After diving deep into their world, we landed on a concept for their campaign: “Digging Deep, Rising High.” This wasn’t just about their work underground; it was about their commitment to excellence, their people, and their responsibility to the land.

The Creative Approach: A Cinematic Journey

We wanted this film to feel as real and powerful as the work Kerembla does. That meant:

  • Grand, sweeping aerial shots capturing the rugged beauty of the Hunter Valley, highlighting both the scale of operations and the stunning environment they operate in.

  • Ground-level storytelling, focusing on the precision of their craft, the dedication of their people, and the meticulous care taken at every stage of the process.

  • Authenticity in sound—from the deep rumble of machinery to the quiet conversations of geologists and operators in the field, every sound was carefully woven in to create an immersive experience.

  • A robust, evocative soundtrack—crafted by composer Mitchell Jon to reflect the grit and determination that defines Kerembla.

  • A distinctly Aussie voice-over that felt familiar, warm, and authoritative, tying everything together in a way that resonated with their audience.

The Experience: More Than Just a Production

This wasn’t an easy shoot. We flew from the sunny Gold Coast into the moody, rain-soaked Hunter Valley, convoying deep into open-cut mines and thick bushland. We witnessed isolated exploration drilling in action, where only a few operators worked in precision with geologists, shaping the land with care.

Despite the unpredictable weather, our team adapted, embraced the conditions, and brought out the raw beauty of the environment. You can see it in the final films—the grittiness, the scale, the human effort behind every drilled core sample.

But the most valuable part of this project wasn’t just the final product—it was the connection we built along the way.

The Unexpected Impact: A Cultural Shift

Across five days of filming, something incredible happened. We weren’t just there to capture footage—we became part of the Kerembla team. We shared stories, laughed over meals, and had real, honest conversations with the people who make the company what it is.

On the final day, we filmed a scene with the whole team in the boardroom. It was meant to be a simple group shot, but it turned into something much bigger—a moment of camaraderie, unity, and shared purpose. When we returned home, Kerembla’s leadership team reached out to tell us something unexpected: our time with them had strengthened their team.

Though we come from different industries, our cameras became a bridge, bringing people together in a way that no strategy session or corporate initiative ever could. It reminded us that great storytelling isn’t just about the story—it’s about the people behind it.

The Takeaway: Business is About Connection

For business owners and industry leaders, this project serves as a powerful reminder: your brand isn’t just what you do—it’s how you make people feel.

Kerembla’s film was about drilling, precision, and environmental responsibility. But at its core, it was about people. The best companies understand that real success isn’t just in efficiency and execution—it’s in fostering a culture where people feel seen, valued, and connected to a greater purpose.

At Cubit, we don’t just make videos. We create experiences that resonate, stories that matter, and moments that bring teams closer together. Because when you tell a story the right way, it does more than just market a business—it transforms it.

We’re proud of what we created with Kerembla. But more than that, we’re proud of the impact it had beyond the screen.

So, what’s your story? And how are you telling it?
