About THIS PROJECT
Highlife Property Group commissioned us to make a series about the people whose work ends up inside their apartments and penthouses. Michelle Morton is one of them. She's a Brisbane ceramicist who builds coastal forms by hand, clam shells, oyster platters, vessels, the kind of pieces that take time and refuse to be rushed. We filmed her in the studio while she worked, close enough to catch the wet clay, the wheel, the moments where she stops and reconsiders a shape before moving on. The point wasn't the finished object sitting on a shelf. It was watching how it got there, and who she is while she makes it. Most people only ever meet the platter on the table. This is the person whose hands made it.
